Anxiety Symptoms in Women: Biofeedback and Holistic Approaches

There are several alternative approaches to treating anxiety symptoms in women. Several factors determine the efficacy of each form of treatment, and it is up to the patient to decide which method suits her the best. We have briefly explored guided imagery and hypnotherapy in one of our earlier posts, and in this article we are going to look at biofeedback.

Anxiety Symptoms in Women: More Alternative Treatments

Biofeedback is a technology-based treatment that aims to fight anxiety by measuring the body’s unconscious functions so that the patient can consciously adjust them. If you’re breathing too fast, you can adjust your breathing rate. If your pulse is too fast, you can train yourself to lower it. Because of the extensive equipment requirements, biofeedback often calls for the assistance of a medical professional who has access to medical instruments. However, there are various ‘simulations’ available that are built around the same principle that do not require high-tech medical equipment.

In treating anxiety symptoms in women, biofeedback aims to control your body’s unconscious functions through simulations. For the patient, the objective is to ‘win’ the simulation or game. Many biofeedback kits include headsets that measure your heart rate and other body functions, and you can only win if you bring those functions under control. Biofeedback is a proven method to treat anxiety symptoms in women, and many who have relied on it have seen very positive results.

Anxiety Symptoms in Women: Herbal Remedies

There are many herbal and traditional remedies you can explore to fight anxiety and panic attacks. These include proven, age-old practices such as massage and acupuncture.
